My Nintendo dreams have come true with the union of my 2 favourite consoles… Nintendo 64 is coming to Switch with Nintendo Online! BUT!!! Not only do I get to relive my childhood with N64, I also FINALLY get my beloved Zelda Ocarina of Time!!!
I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am. When the Nintendo Direct on 24 September 2021 announced that Nintendo 64 was coming to Nintendo Switch in a new Nintendo Switch Online membership launching in late October. Yep, this month!!
We were gifted with the announcement of 9 titles that will be available from launch (seen below), and a promise of 7 more titles to come plus more…

So far the titles we know we will get are:
- Super Mario 64
- Mario Kart 64
- LylatWars
- Yoshi’s Story
- The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time
- Dr Mario 64
- Mario Tennis
- Operation WinBack
- The Legend of Zelda, Majora’s Mask
- F-Zero X
- Banjo-Kazooie
- Mario Golf
- Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
- Paper Mario
- Pokémon Snap
A lot of my childhood is in this list and Nintendo 64 was a big part of forming my love for gaming.
Personally, I am most excited about Ocarina of Time. It’s no secret that this game is one of my all time favourite games. I often talk about it on my socials and have mentioned countless times that I wish Nintendo would either remaster it and bring it to Switch, or do a mini/online 64 like they have done with the NES and SNES. I’m still hoping for a remaster, but I am so freakin’ excited to play Ocarina of Time and relive the countless hours of adventure that made me fall in love with the action-adventure style of gaming. I have some fond memories of running around the Lost Woods, riding Epona around Hyrule Field and Gerudo Valley… I am however not looking forward to the water temple… that still is the most difficult puzzle I have ever encountered in any game.
Another game that I am SUPER excited about is Yoshi’s Story. I couldn’t even tell you how many times I played that game over and over. I spent pretty much every day of every school holidays playing Yoshi’s Story, completing it with every colour Yoshi so everyone got a fair go at being the hero.
I’m also really excited for Super Mario 64 – even though I already have it on Switch -, Mario Kart 64, Pokémon Snap, Majora’s Mask, Mario Tennis, and Banjo-Kazooie. I am BEYOND excited about Banjo-Kazooie FINALLY coming home to Nintendo. I have been saying for YEARS that I wish Nintendo would get it back and do a remaster, and when Banjo-Kazooie was introduced to Super Smash Bros Ultimate I KNEW something bigger had to be in the works.

What’s also super exciting is that members will also be able to get their hands on a wireless N64 controller for some authenticity in gameplay. I’m hoping that these become available in different colours because I would LOVE to get one of those in transparent purple.
There are a few games that I believe to be absolute gems on the N64 that I hope to see announced and released in this membership package in the future, including:
- GoldenEye 007
- Donkey Kong 64
- Diddy Kong Racing
- Star Fox 64
- Pokémon Stadium
- Star Wars Episode 1: Racer
- 1080º Snowboarding
There is definitely going to be A LOT of Nintendo fun coming with N64 coming to Nintendo Online. I can’t wait to get into it later this month… especially Ocarina of Time! *SQUEE!!!*
